Fish Species

A guest post from Neist Point

Unfortunately not been out fishing myself for the past few weeks due to work commitments I was very kindly passed this report from Neist Point by a fellow angler Duncan.

A couple of days of calm weather prompted a thought about a trip to Neist
Point for some pollock fishing. A very calm and partly cloudy day seemed ideal
so I fished to the right of the lighthouse.  The tide was biggish so I fished it
on the early part of the flood using red/black redgills and green jelly worms.
Both caught well taking pollack between 3 and 6 lbs until the tide run really
started to pick up and then the bites tailed off. I came away with 7 fish and
returned several others. A couple near me had fished since early in the morning
and had caught 28 between them, the biggest 8lb; all except those deeply hooked
were returned. An excellent day.

Im sure you will agree these are cracking fish and a great report, certainly more than enough to turn
me green with envy. Cannot wait to get out and wet a line...
